The Live Band

CABY’s music is the result of a blend of different musical influences and disparate impulses.

The band combines melodic Afro-Cuban rhythms with a modern jazz sensibility, and yet untouched African traditional rhythmics.

The CABY live band builds a musical bridge linking the sounds and cultures of Africa, Brazil, Latin America and USA, with those of the native Ivory Coast of the bandleader.

CABY’s music is filled with fantastic performances by a cast of 6 international musicians as, pianist Bernt Moen (Norway), saxophonist Håvard Fossum (Norway), bassist John Harvey (USA), drummer Ato Tepe (Ivory Coast), percussionist Julian Chavez (Cuba) and the rhythm guru, guitarist and vocalist Cesar Bolly (Ivory Coast).

The CABY live band presents a wide variety of compositions that entertains and challenges listeners in new and unexpected ways.

Mixing West-African sound with Latin and traditional jazz, their music is full of challenging rhythms, rich harmonies and flowing improvisations. It’s Funky, Jazzy, Groovy and «Afro-Dizzy-Ac»!

The band is basically made of 6 persons. But it can be reduced down to an acoustic duo (2 persons). Depending on the assignment. It can also be taken up to 10 persons with a horn section and backing vocalist.
